25 years ago today, I was sitting in chapel at my Christian college in Arkansas, praying. It was an ordinary day.
When chapel ended, many of us went to the student center for breakfast, to check our PO boxes, and to see friends.
This day, something was different.
The student center was crowded, and I could barely navigate to my PO box. Most of the students were packed as close as possible to see the two TVs. I had no idea why they were watching the news.
Then I saw it, video footage of the twin towers being hit. Confusion and disbelief hung heavy in the air. Terrorists had struck while we were worshipping in chapel. Students pushed closer to see the TVs. Some students wept.
I was 20 years old, and I'll never forget that day. We prayed for protection. We mourned the losses of that day. We prayed for those families. Today we still pray those prayers.
We will never forget.
