When my husband first told me that Eminem had released a Christian collaboration album, I was surprised and intrigued.
I looked it up on Youtube, and, even though it wasn't my style, it was actually pretty good. As I listened to the song, something caught my eye. The channel name was Ai Musics.
Sure enough, the song was AI generated.
Are you surprised by all the recent surge of AI music and art? I am, for sure.
Some people refuse to believe these works are AI generated.

I recently saw a post on social media about the use of Chat GPT to construct devotional messages. The sentiment was that it's lazy, creepy, and not led by the spirit.
Do you agree?
In the discussion that followed, many people vehemently opposed all things AI. Others saw it as a resource that can be used, just like sharing an excerpt from a devotional written by someone else. Maybe it's like sharing an image that was drawn by someone else.
There's a third viewpoint that stands out to me, but first, take a look at this top Christian song, Find Your Rest, by Solomon Ray.
The creator of the AI persona, Solomon Ray, is a man named Christopher Townsend. He openly labels this content as AI generated. "Townsend states that God can use any vehicle, including AI, to reach people, and criticizes those who 'gatekeep' the message" (Christianity Today.)
As I was listening to some of Ray, or rather, Townsend's music, I thought of Luke 19:39-40. "And yet some of the Pharisees in the crowd said to Him, 'Teacher, rebuke Your disciples!' Jesus replied, 'I tell you, if these stop speaking, the stones will cry out!'"
And then I heard these lyrics!
So I found a tool
(Something new)
God led me to use
(Sing His truth)
Now I’m told I have no soul
Since I don' broken all the rules
My God gets the glory
When all creation sings
If rocks can cry out to praise Your name
Then You can use anything

So, is Christian music made to worship God, to spread the gospel (fulfill the Great Commission,) or to provoke thought? I think it's all three. (Eph 5:18-19)
Colossians 3:16 says, "Let the word of Christ richly dwell within you, with all wisdom teaching and admonishing one another with psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs, singing with thankfulness in your hearts to God."
Townsend is glorifying God by using a talent God gave him (1 Cor 12:4-7.) After all, if we don't share the gospel and praise God, even the rocks (and AI) will!
