How do you want to be remembered?
Recently my husband and I put together our final wishes. Our wills, important information, all of it.
One of the more challenging pieces was reflecting on our obituaries. Specifically, how we want to be remembered.
While I didn't write out a whole obituary for myself, here's what I wrote: Zealously followed God. Dynamic personality. Enthusiasm for life. Shined like a light to those around her. Lived a great big life. Passionate about evangelism and volunteering. Encourager.
What about you? What do you want to be remembered for. Seriously, take a moment and write down 2-3 things. How do you want your family to remember you? What about your friends? Do you want your legacy to last for multiple generations? (Proverbs 22:1, Ecclesiastes 7:1)
Now, do your actions align with your words? If you wrote that you want to be remembered as being compassionate and loving God, are you treating others compassionately (Matthew 10:42)? Do your daily habits reflect your love for God? And are you doing these regularly, or just on occasion, when you remember?
At the end of the day, we're going to be remembered for how we acted most of the time.
